Design of frequency‐agile microstrip antennas with conical‐beam radiation

Abstract: A branch line Wilkinson divider has been presented utilizing parallel branch lines instead of multiple resistors to increase the bandwidth of a single-stage Wilkinson divider. So, it has overcome the influence of the multiple resistors. A modified singlestage Wilkinson divider with four branch lines has been fabricated and measured. Its bandwidth is almost as wide as four times of the bandwidth of a traditional single-stage Wilkinson divider. Therefore, the added branch lines have increased the bandwidth of a … Show more

“…In addition to the conventional monopole antennas, microstrip antennas that operate in the fundamental or higher order mode can also radiate omnidirectional patterns [1], [2]. An effective method to receive a linearly polarized signal from a random direction is to design a CP antenna for the communication system.…”

“…Because modern wireless systems demand various communication services, the monopolar microstrip antenna that supports the multiband operation may be required. To solve this challenge, the monopolar microstrip antennas with the multiple resonators in the same plane, adding shorting via and the stacked resonators are presented in the previous literature . Generally, in the case of a dual‐band monopolar microstrip antenna using a single resonator, the radiation pattern varies depending on the resonance mode.…”

“…According to the operation principle, the reconfigurable antenna theoretically has a stable radiation pattern. The frequency tuning can also be realized with a single varactor diode [5, 6]. When the diode is directly connected to the input port of a resonant antenna in series, the inductive reactance of the antenna input impedance at a specific frequency can be cancelled out with the equivalent capacitance of the diode, and then the remaining resistive impedance is matched to 50 Ω through an impedance transformer.…”
