Design of Monitoring System for Multilayer Soil Temperature and Moisture Based on WSN

Abstract: The temperature and moisture of single soil layer is difficult to represent the real growth environment around crop root. The measurement of temperature and moisture in multilayer and multipoint soil is easy to know water demand around crop root during its growth period deeply and accurately. It also can improve the water utilization coefficient and achieve basic data for the research on soil water infiltration variation and intelligent precise irrigation. In this paper, a monitoring system for multilayer soil… Show more

“…The architecture design of the vermiculture smart farming kit is premeditated following the layered proposal and the architecture design for precision agriculture. The software composition divided into layers has claimed to support in many researches [7], [24], [26]. Elijah, Rahman, Orikumhi, Leow, and Hindia have cited that IoT technology consists of a multilayer architecture and devices.…”

“…• Precision agriculture : is a technology which uses advanced technology to improve crop yield, among them, Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is the main driver for the development of it [40]. It effectively reduces the potential risks in the production process and helps farmers making accurate and controlled farming practices by deploying a large number of low-power, multi-function, wireless communication sensors in environments (such as fields and open poultry and livestock breeding) and collecting relevant data in agricultural production (such as environment data, crop growth data, livestock health data [41]- [44]). The main modern information technology used in precision agriculture is ''3S'' technology, including Remote Sensing (RS), Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS).…”
