Design of Quad-Port Ultra-Wideband Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output Antenna with Wide Axial-Ratio Bandwidth

Abstract: This article presents a compact, planar, quad-port ultra-wideband (UWB) multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with wide axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW). The proposed MIMO design consists of four identical square-shaped antenna elements, where each element is made up of a circular slotted ground plane and feed by a 50 Ω microstrip line. The circular polarization is achieved using a protruding hexagonal stub from the ground plane. The four elements of the MIMO antenna are placed orthogonally to each other t… Show more

“…The peak gain of the presented antenna is 5.5 dBi, the isolation is less than −16 dB, and ECC is less than 0.01. In [33], a MIMO antenna as presented with a dimension of 45 × 45 mm 2 , and |S 11 | was less than −10 dB in an operating range of 2.2 to 13.5 GHz, with a total impedance bandwidth of 11.3 GHz. The gain of the proposed design was 6.8 dBi, isolation was less than −18 dB, and was less than 0.01.…”

“…The reported design comprises four Split-Ring Resonators (SRRs) and a T-shaped slot etches in the ground plane to achieve limited isolation of 16 dB whilst having dimensions of 26 × 26 mm . In [14], a planar quad element circular polarized UWB antenna system has been proposed with a wide axial bandwidth. The decoupling is achieved by introducing protruding hexagonal stubs in the ground plane.…”
