The process of student's metacognition is a thought consciousness within the students so that it can perform special tasks, and then use that awareness to control what students will do. Metacognitive guidance based on the self-questioning who constructed own students through exercises on a regular basis. The purpose of this study is to describe the metacognitive guidance grade VIII SMP Negeri 12 Kendari. The results of this research show that students who use a metacognitive guidance approach better than the students who use the conventional approach, the existence of the metacognitive guidance approach makes the students interpret a problem so that it is capable of describing a mathematical problem with their own language. Therefore, it is able to solve math problems. In addition, this study uses a metacognitive guidance approach focused on four basic questions that must be mastered students, i.e., comprehending the problem, constructing connections, use of strategies, and the reflecting.

<p style="text-align: justify;">The mathematical literacy ability of Indonesian pupils is still relatively low, as indicated by Indonesia's score of 379 for mathematical literacy in PISA 2018. Paying attention to the learning process such as the teaching materials used in learning, is one of ways to increase mathematical literacy skills. To strengthen students' mathematical literacy skills, it is great for building qualified mathematics teaching materials with the nuances of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) which are supported by the information and communication technology (ICT)-assisted Preprospec (Prepare, Problem Solving, Presentation and Conclusion) Learning Model. The research method used in this study is research and development (R&D), with the main reference of 4D-model development by Thiagarajan, whose stages are limited to define, design, and develop. The results showed that the feasibility test on teaching materials obtained the total average percentage of validator I to validator V, respectively, 90.19, 95.45, 93.90, 91.95, and 97.95 with very eligible criteria. It is easy to understand by students with a readability score of ρ = .109 > α = .05 or Cochran's Q = 13.091, and it can improve students' mathematical literacy skills, as evidenced by the Wilcoxon test and a gain normalization result of 485.</p>

This teaching material development offers a solution to facilitate the students ' critical thinking skills through chemical learning. The purpose of this research is to produce decent teaching materials to facilitate students' critical thinking skills. This type of research is development research using Dick, Carey, and Carey's development models. Research instruments use poll responses from learning media experts, learning design, and learning materials. The resulting development product is a teaching book. Based on the results of data analysis obtained from the responses of learning media experts, learning design experts, and learning materials experts demonstrate that the teaching materials are developed worthy to be used in the process of learning chemistry with the access The average percentage score amounted to 89.33% of the learning media experts, 83.33% of the learning design experts, and 93.33% of the learning material experts. This chemical teaching materials development product is also feasible to facilitate students ' critical thinking skills in the learning process. The results of the assessment of all test subjects against the critical Thinking skills indicator show an average percentage of 95% of the learning media experts, 80% of the learning design experts, and 100% of the learning material experts.
