“…Murthy et al., in 2012 performed the docking studies of [ Scheme (34‐38)] analogue structures of 1,4‐DHP and it was found that analogue with β‐ketoester ( 38 ) has more binding affinity towards (KcsA) potassium receptor, to validate the docking results thirteen derivatives ( 38 a‐m ) of same series were synthesized using eco‐friendly cellulose sulfuric acid as catalyst at 100 0 C for 2–5 hrs under solvent free conditions. All the thirteen synthesized derivatives were evaluated for antimicrobial activity out of which four with (R= 2‐Cl, 3‐OH, 2‐OH and 4‐OH, 3‐OMe ) substitution found to be very effective bactericide when tested against ten bacterial species and same results were supported and confirmed by the in‐silico studies suggesting that these had high binding affinity …”

“…An efficient methodology for the synthesis of 4-aryl-1,4-dihydropyridines in excellent yield under solvent-free condition through the three components condensation of various aldehydes, ethyl acetoacetate and ammonium acetate (NH 4 OAc) at 100 o C, have been established by Murthy et al 25 (Scheme 2). The authors have employed this reaction with various solvents such as methanol, ethanol, acetonitrile, toluene, dioxane and tetrahydrofuran (THF).…”

“…Compounds derived from xanthenes and 1,4-dihydropyridines (1,4-DHPs), such as 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthenes and 1,8-dioxodecahydroacridines, are of importance as they have various biological activities such as antibacterial [25], antiinflammatory [26], antimicrobial [27], antitubercular [28], neuroprotectant [29], and insecticidal activities [30]. A number of xanthenes found uses in laser technologies [31], dyes [32], and fluorescent materials for visualization of biomolecules [33].…”
