Detection of venous air embolism by continuous intraarterial oxygen monitoring

Abstract: In a recent study, we compared a new intraarterial fiberoptic "optode" probe to continuously measure arterial oxygen and carbon dioxide tensions and pH with intermittently drawn blood samples in patients undergoing surgery.
