Purpose In clinical practice, the use of apitherapy products in the treatment of oncology patients is not very common. For this reason, it is extremely important for cancer patients to have accurate information about apitherapy and to use these products in a controlled manner. This study was conducted to determine the knowledge level of oncology patients about apitherapy, their use of apitherapy products and their opinions about these products.Methods This descriptive research was carried out between January 2019 and January 2020 at the oncology unit of a university hospital. Power analysis was used to determine the sample size of the study, and a total of 87 patients constituted the sample of the research with a confidence interval of 85%. A questionnaire consisting of questions investigating the sociodemographic characteristics of the patients and their knowledge, opinions and practices about apitherapy was used to collect the data. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the SPSS 21 package program. Results The level of knowledge of the patients about apitherapy is quite low (41.4%) and they received the information they gained from their family/friends (63.9%). The rate of use of apitherapy products by patients is low (27.6%) and the most frequently used product is honey (37.4%). Patients think that more scientific evidence is needed for the use of apitherapy methods in cancer patients (83.9%).Conclusions Healthcare professionals should conduct more scientific research on the use of apitherapy products in cancer treatment and inform patients about the usage areas and risks of apitherapy.

Honey production and beekeeping practices are more common in the Eastern Black Sea region. This study was conducted to determine the knowledge, experience and attitudes the use of personal and professional apitherapy of pediatric nurses working in the pediatric clinics of the largest hospitals in the Eastern Black Sea region. The study was conducted with 227 pediatric nurses who volunteered to participate in the study, working in six hospitals in Turkey's Eastern Black Sea region. In this study, there is a correlation between gender, having child, clinical experience, and the use of apitherapy. Honey is the most common apitherapeutic product used by nurses both for personal (40,4%) and clinical use (39,1%). Nurses stated that they do not know bee venom, and they know very little about propolis and royal jelly. The nurses listed their positive experiences concerning honey's capacity to "alleviate cough symptoms, treat gastritis, strengthen immune system, effectively heal wounds and burns" and their negative experiences concerning its side effects, such as allergy, dizziness, headache, and itching". It is important that nurses take responsibility for the apitherapy method included in complementary and alternative medicine methods and that nurses can use evidence-based apitherapy methods. It was recommended that nurses should be knowledgeable and careful about the benefits and side effects of apitherapy.

Background: Traditional and evidence-based medicines, as seen depicted throughout human history, reportedly first begin with the application of medicinal plants, animal products, or inorganic minerals as a basic framework towards effectively engineering the prototypes generally aligned to pharmaceuticals and medical nutrition. The growing global trend of complementary treatments for glaucoma can be explained by the intraocular pressure (IOP)-independent mechanisms of the disease and its interpretation as a progressive neurodegenerative disorder. Unfortunately, the categorical positions of the major fields of applied popular complementary therapies and their relation to glaucoma are consistently neglected. Methods: In consideration of bibliographic resources, the most well-known online scientific databases were searched. Conclusion: The rising popularity and the trends of products coming onto the market cannot escape the attention of pharmacists and ophthalmologists, as their patients suffering from eye diseases are also increasingly looking for such medicinal products. Most of them still lack knowledge of the appropriate evidence and side effect profiles. Our proposed systematic charts demonstrate the position of each mainstream complementary therapy throughout the applied medical sciences and are distinctively unique; we could not find any similar relevant illustration or resource among the published international literature.
