DETERMINATION OF MONTHLY LENGTH-WEIGHT RELATIONSHIPS AND LENGTH COMPOSITION OF WHITING (Merlangius merlangus euxinus) CAPTURED FROM THE BLACK SEA COASTS (SİNOP-SAMSUN)

Show more

“…Besides, LWR is used for many studies of fisheries biology, i.e., total biomass, fish conditions (overweight, food and reproduction), age structure, inter-regional growth rate, regional comparison of fish life history and specific species, Farooq et al [12], Hashim et al [13], Özdemir et al [14]. Environmental suitability, Froese et al [1], Jellyman et al [15], Le Cran et al [16], Reñones et al [17], significant to develop conservation strategies fish and ensure sustainable development, Castilla [18], Patanda et al [19].…”

“…Incidentally captured cetaceans by the fishing gears in the fishing operations were not alive when they are boarded. Marine mammals' bycatch in the turbot gillnet fisheries have been noticed by several research conducted in the Black Sea shores of Türkiye (Tonay & Öztürk 2003;Tonay, 2016;Özdemir et al, 2017a;Bilgin et al, 2018a;Kratzer et al, 2021). cm respectively in the eastern Black Sea coasts (Bilgin et al, 2018b).…”

“…In Türkiye, fishing, landing, transporting and selling of these species were prohibited by "Notification Regulating Commercial Fishing" for marine mammals since 1983 and for sturgeons since 1996. However, there are considerable amount of incidental catch of these species by turbot gillnets, purse seine and trawls in the Black Sea coasts (Tonay & Öztürk, 2003;Dede & Tonay, 2010;Özdemir & Erdem, 2011;Özdemir et al, 2017a;Gönener & Özsandikçi, 2017;Duyar & Bilgin, 2018;Bilgin & Köse, 2018;ACCOBAMS, 2021a).…”

“…The changes in b-values may be attributed to one or most reasons: changes of salinity, temperature, oxygen, differences of seasonal and regions, pollution of environment, nutrient presence, food abundance and bait quality, sex of fishes, variety in the number of examined individuals, as well as in the observed size ranges of the analyzed fishes (Gonçalves et al, 1997;Froese et al, 2011;Özdemir et al, 2018). Fifteen of twenty-seven studies had significantly different "b" for tub gurnard, which defined positive allometric growth in 6 scientific studies and isometric growth in 9 scientific studies for tub gurnard.…”
