Length-Weight Relationships of Brown-Marbled Grouper Epinephelus fuscoguttatus Forsskål, 1775 in Bobong Taliabu Waters of North Maluku, Indonesia

Abstract: Length-weight relationship (LWR) species Epinephelus fuscoguttatus Forsskål, 1775 by gender (male and female) were collected from September 2016 to June 2017 in Bobong Taliabu waters, North Maluku, Indonesia. Fish captured using bottom trap, size 80 x 60 x 35 cm with mesh size 5 cm. LWRs of significant male and female E. fuscoguttatus (P<0.05) were calculated as W = 0.0098 L 3.1475 (r 2 = 0.9252), W = 0.0752 L 2.5030 (r 2 = 0.9029), and W = 0.9987 L 1.6789 (r 2 = 0.9093) for both. This study recorded the new m… Show more

“…Allometric negative growth patterns have also been reported for brown-marbled grouper populations around Pulo Aceh in Aceh Province and for female brown-marbled grouper from Bobong, Taliabu in Maluku Utara Province (Ramadhani et al 2017). Isometric growth patterns have also been reported for male brownmarbled grouper from Bobong Taliabu, Maluku Utara (Tangke et al 2020) and hatchery-raised brown-marbled Grouper in Borneo, Malaysia (Mustafa et al 2015). Similar to the data on brown-marbled grouper populations, the data for other grouper species in Table 3 showed wide variation in growth patterns.…”

“…The size structure of Selaroides leptolepis that has been caught was between 4.5-18.5 cm FL with the dominant mode at 11.5 cm FL (Figure 4). This size is still smaller than those caught in the waters of Tomini Bay between 9.5-22.2 cm TL, Wondaman Bay 10-24 cm TL, Ternate 8.2-21.7 cm TL and 5.65-31.82 cm TL and larger than in the Sunda Strait waters 9-18 cm TL and Matang Malaysia 9-17.5 cm TL [21,[29][30][31][32][33]. The difference in the size structure of the caught fish can be caused by differences in fishing gear and mesh sizes used in various waters [13].…”
