“…Orbifloxacin exhibited a relatively high volume of distribution at steady‐state (Vss; 1.86 l/kg) in crucian carp, which suggests that this drug would be distributed well into the tissues. The Vss determined here was consistent with those reported for orbifloxacin in dogs and camels (1.61 and 1.73 l/kg, (Gebru et al., ) and (Goudah & Abo‐El‐Sooud, ); respectively), but lower than that in sheep (3.09 l/kg, (Dudhatra et al., )) and higher than those reported in lactating goats and ewes (1.13 and 1.31 l/kg, (Marin, Escudero, Fernandez‐Varon, & Carceles, ) and (Goudah et al., ); respectively). The Vss is a clearance independent parameter, which is used to calculate the amount of drug in the body under equilibrium conditions (Toutain & Bousquet‐Melou, ).…”

“…After intramuscular injection, orbifloxacin was completely absorbed with a bioavailability of 96.46%. Similar values have been reported in other species, such as camels (97.47%; (Goudah & Abo‐El‐Sooud, )), dogs (100.1%; (Gebru et al., )), cows (101.4%; (Elias et al., )), goats (105.01%; (Marin et al., )), lactating ewes (114.63%; (Goudah et al., )), and sheep (150.8%; (Dudhatra et al., )). However, the intramuscular bioavailability in crucian carp of the present study was greater than that reported in ducks (72.46%–74.8%; (Tohamy, )).…”

“…We do not know the reason for this huge difference. But a relatively small K aim (0.13 hr −1 , calculated as 1/MAT) was also reported in sheep (Dudhatra et al., ).…”

“…In the present model, the P X s for orbifloxacin in different tissues were calculated based on area method or optimized using the pub- (Dudhatra et al, 2013).…”
