Determination of oxidative stress in scaly carp (Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus, 1758) exposed to deltamethrin in different water temperature

The potential toxic effects of mancozeb exposure on some antioxidant enzyme were investigated on heart tissue of zebrafish in this study. Zebrafish groups were exposed to different doses of mancozeb (Group A: 5 mgL-1 and Group B: 7.5 mgL-1) for 120 hours. In this study, catalase (CAT) activity, malondialdehyde (MDA) level and total protein (TP) level were determined with spectrophotometer. Our results showed that CAT activity was found 2,541±0,771 mg L-1 in A group and 2,011±0,201 mg L-1 in B group in this study. CAT and MDA activity levels decreased in the experiment group according to control group. MDA levels were found 0,025±0,003 mg L-1 in A group and 0,025±0,003 mg L-1 in B group. TP levels were found 9,75±1,51 mg L-1 in A group and 10,18±0,32 mg L-1 in B group. TP levels increased in the all experiment groups according to control group. We observed that the changes in the CAT activity and MDA levels were time and as well as mancozeb dose dependent. As a result mancozeb is a very toxic substance for zebrafish and other aquatic organisms.

Investigation of changes in paraoxonase and arylesterase enzyme activities in scaly carp (Cyprinus carpio) applied oxytetracycline by bath

In this study, it was aimed to reveal the effects on paraoxonase (PON) and arylesterase (ARE) enzyme activities of oxytetracycline applied in different concentrations in scaly carp (Cyprinus carpio). For this purpose, oxytetracycline at doses of 50 and 75 mg/L was applied by bathing for 48 hours. On the 7th, 14th and 21st days after the application of oxytetracycline, liver and serum samples were taken from the fish in the control and experimental groups. Changes in the PON and ARE enzyme activities were determined in the liver and serum samples which collected from the fish. The PON and ARE activities in the liver and serum decreased in the groups exposed to oxytetracycline compared to that of the control group. This reduction was statistically different from the control group on 7, 14 and 21 days.

The effect of curcumin on paraoxonase and arylesterase enzyme activities in scaly carp (Cyprinus carpio L)

In this study, the effect of curcumin on paraoxonase and arylesterase enzyme activities in scaly carp (Cyprinus carpio) were examined. For this purpose, curcumin was added into the feed during 21 days with 10, 20 and 40 mg/kg doses. At the end of this period, serum, liver and kidney samples were taken from the fish and changes in paraoxonase and arylesterase enzyme activities were investigated. The serum and liver paraoxonase and arylesterase enzyme activities of the curcumin treated groups showed significant increases compared to the control group. The increase in kidney paraoxonase and arylesterase enzyme activities was statistically insignificant.
