Determination of Rb, Sr, Cs, Ba, and Pb in K‐feldspars in small sample amounts by total reflection X‐ray fluorescence

Abstract: The results of the determination of Rb, Sr, Cs, Ba, and Pb in K-feldspars by total reflection X-ray fluorescence analysis using 0.05 g sample in mass are presented. Prepared suspensions of the rock Certified Reference Materials and the K-feldspar samples were chosen as the sample preparation method. Studying the particle sizes of the K-feldspar sample powders was carried out. The concentrations of the elements were evaluated using the internal standard method. As internal standard, either a Se solution was add… Show more

“…The method was evaluated with samples from a coastal area in Northwest Spain (Ria de Arousa) and was validated using several CRMs. Cherkashina et al 121 also used TXRF to determine Ba, Cs, Pb, Rb and Sr in potassium feldspars based on 0.05 g test portions using either Se as an internal standard or the predetermined value of Rb. Ross et al 122 described a multi-sensor logger for rock cores, tested on diamond drilling samples obtained from the Matagami mining camp (Canada).…”

“…where V R is the variance, characterizing the reproducibility of the measurement of an analytical signal from one sample; V P is the variance, characterizing the stability of the sample preparation conditions from the same specimen. The values of the components V P and V R were evaluated as well as in [23,24]. Statistical processing of the analytical results was performed in accordance with the recommendations given at the confidence level P = 0.95 [25].…”

“…Moreover, the performance of TXRF is evaluated for ultra-trace element analysis in [ 15 , 16 ], while theoretical calculations of detection limits for different TXRF methods are presented in [ 17 ]. The results of the determination of Rb, Sr, Cs, Ba, and Pb in small sample amounts are presented in [ 18 ].…”
