Determination of soil pH by using digital image processing technique

Abstract: Abstract:Soil is recognized as one of the most valuable natural resource whose soil pH property used to describe the degree of acidity or basicity which affect nutrient availability and ultimately plant growth. Fifty soil samples were collected and their pH was determined by using digital image processing technique. Soil colour is visual perceptual property corresponding in humans to the categories i.e red, green, blue and others. Soil colours are the parts of visual perceptual property where digital values of… Show more

“…In our study, we have any not applied any reagents in soil for uniform color of the soil. We have collected the soil samples from the different region Aziz et al (2016) has used the soil dataset prepared by Kumar et al (2014) in their experiment using neural network. They have found the coefficient of bets fit as R 2 = 0.8 which is low as compare to coefficient of linear regression of our study.…”

“…Then Box counting method and the fractal dimension equation is used on the pixel value of the binary image for feature extraction. Later on Kumar et al (2014) has used the same pH index as like Babu et al (2011) for the calculation soil pH by extracting the red, green and blue signal of the soil images. In 2014, a fuzzy expert system has developed by Abu et al (2014).…”

“…Color images and features are used to determine pH value by various researchers. Image processing reduces human errors and time required for analysis [4] [5]. Soil pH and pH index are compared with RGB values and mapped with each other and pH value was determined accordingly.…”

“…The pH value can be determined by features extracted from color images. The color index for pH determination was proposed [4,5] use pixel values. The proposed method uses some different technique of image acquisition and new pH indices are used to calculate the pH values.…”

“…Nowadays, digital image processing and digital image analysis methods have gained popularity in these applications [3][4][5][6]. When the literature is examined, it can be seen that there are some studies available aimed to determine the pH value by using image processing techniques [1,[6][7][8][9][10][11].…”
