Determination of soluble toxic arsenic species in alga samples by microwave-assisted extraction and high performance liquid chromatography–hydride generation–inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry

Abstract: A microwave-based procedure for arsenic species extraction in alga samples (Sargassum fulvellum, Chlorella vulgaris, Hizikia fusiformis and Laminaria digitata) is described. Extraction time and temperature were tested in order to evaluate the extraction efficiency of the process. Arsenic compounds were extracted in 8 ml of deionised water at 90 degrees C for 5 min.
