“…The carboxylic acid moiety in TGA (pKa1 (-COOH) = 4.32, pKa2 (-SH) = 10.2) 41,42 can hydrogen bond with water molecules, and are partially deprotonated. The ammonium chloride moiety in CAH (pKa1 (-SH) = 8.27, pKa2 (-NH2) = 10.53) 41,43 ionizes and interacts favorably with water.…”

“…The working standard solutions were prepared by serial dilutions of the stock solutions with sample extraction solution to the desired concentrations (1.5, 3.0, 5.0, 10.0, 25.0, 50.0, 100.0 and 200.0 mg/L). The corrected peak area (A c ) was used for quantification (Xie et al, 2014). The calibration curves were constructed between the A c and the concentrations (q, mg/L) of the ten preservatives.…”

“…The aim of the present work was to improve the previous MEKC method to detect ten preservatives in ten different kinds of food samples by simply increasing the length of the capillary and injection time of the sample, reducing the separation voltage and improving the sample pretreatment methods. The key factors which influence the extraction and quantitative analysis of the ten preservatives in food samples, such as the selection of the sample extraction solution for different sample matrices, the type and content of organic solvents in the sample buffer (Li et al, 2011Xie et al, 2014), were investigated in detail. Four hundred and thirteen food samples collected from local supermarkets and farmers' markets were analyzed by the improved MEKC method and satisfactory results were obtained.…”

“…Since TGA is the main ingredient in hair perm agent, its simple and accurate sensing will be welcome. So far many attempts have been made to develop analytical methods for TGA determination, such as, chromatographic method, [6] electrochemical analysis, [7] potentiometry, [8] capillary electrophoresis, [9] spectroscopic method [10] and colorimetry [11] . Some of the methods need sophisticated instrumentations and time‐consuming, and hence, simple, cheap and sensitive detection method for TGA is highly needed.…”
