Determining the relationship of evapotranspiration with precipitation and temperature over Turkey

Abstract: Evapotranspiration (ET), which is a combination of the words evaporation and transpiration, is expressed as the sum of water due to water consumption and evaporation in plants. In this study, the NASA Drought Early Warning Systems Network Land Data Assimilation System model (FLDAS NOAH) was used to determine evapotranspiration data for the 2018-2019 water years (October 2017-September 2019) on Turkey. In addition, NASA Global Land Data Assimilation System (GLDAS NOAH) was used for temperature data. Total preci… Show more

“…There are some studies using satellite and model-derived datasets evaluating watershed runoff, land and sea surface temperature, and climate change projections in Turkey. These studies have claimed satisfaction and the accuracy of satellite and model-based meteorological parameters in modeling of hydrology and agro-climatology (Alramlawi and Fistikoglu, 2022;Kuzay et al, 2022;Tuzcu Kokal and Musaoğlu, 2021;Bicer, 2020;Irvem and Ozbuldu 2019;Tan, 2019;Demircan et al, 2017). However, the NASA POWER reanalysis dataset for different weather variables over Turkey has not been assessed yet.…”

“…Las condiciones atmosféricas: radiación, temperatura, la humedad atmosférica y la velocidad del viento influyen sobre el proceso de la evapotranspiración (Allen et al, 2006). La precipitación y la temperatura influyen en cambios bruscos de la ET ya que se ha llegado a determinar una relación de datos entre sí (Kuzay et al, 2022).…”

“…RS technology not only provides continuous and large spatial coverage on a large scale (Aksu & Arikan 2017;Oguz 2015) but also provides precision and confidence in the final products. For this reason, RS techniques have been widely applied for drought monitoring (Aksu et al 2022), precipitation (P), temperature, water resource, and agricultural monitoring (Kuzay et al 2022) in large-or small-scale areas. RS also provides availability of information (freely) on crop growth and health status to the farmers (Jayanth et al 2021).…”
