Development and Production of Interactive Videos for Teaching Chemical Techniques during Laboratory Sessions

Abstract: Success in undergraduate chemical experiments requires students to develop knowledge and skills of instrumentation, equipment and chemical techniques. In this technology report, we propose an adaptable and user focused strategy to improve students' foundational skill and proficiency with chemical laboratory techniques and instrumentation. The strategy is composed of multi-perspective filming of experimental activities using mobile phones or professional level filming to create videos that can be freely viewed … Show more

“…A nationwide survey was conducted in 2018 by Kaltura about the prospect of interactive video possibly will play an important role in the forthcoming education, with 97% of respondents" feedbacks reported agreed [9]. An experiment was conducted during the laboratory sessions where the students watch the video tutorial through iPads, the way they behaved shows that as if they were searching for the convenience and the availability of interactive feature in a video [10]. Thereof, an educational video for higher institutions needs to be engaging and attractive enough for learners to stay tuned and utilize the video as their alternative method to studies.…”

“…Flipped classroom [1][2][3] is a product of modern development, and internet technology is an important support for its implementation: teachers send teaching videos [4][5][6] made by themselves or by other teachers on the internet to students via the learning platform [7] so that students can complete preclass learning tasks under the guidance of teachers in the classroom. e flipped classroom is popular in theoretical subjects but is rarely used in physical education [8], which is a practical course.…”
