This paper describes the design and implementation of a novel system for control and management of the electric energy delivered to and consumed by Electric and Hybrid vehicles. Low power and high power algorithms were implemented on a reconfigurable System-on-Chip that was installed on an Electric Vehicle. This integrated circuit acquires the individual voltages and temperatures of the batteries when the vehicle is on the road and then will identify any battery(s) starting to show early signs of failure, will apply low power rejuvenation algorithm when the vehicle is off-road, and will apply high power rejuvenation algorithm when the vehicle is at a recharge station. This system will rejuvenate the whole battery pack without dismantling them nor unloading them from the EV, will extend the useful life of the batteries and make the Electric and hybrid Vehicles more user-friendlier.
