Development of a New Heat Flux Sensor for Building Applications

Abstract: Buildings account for more than 40% of EU final energy demand. Most of the existing buildings will be standing over 30 years time, when the new construction rate is still low. This means that the existing building refurbishment represents a key factor for the primary energy saving potential of EU, up to 2050. The heat exchange measurements in situ are so crucial for real dynamic behaviour characterization for standard and new solutions, such as the operative settings investigation due to user and external cons… Show more

“…They are also exposed to the same orientation and external conditions during the year (air temperature and solar radiation). The thermal flux is not derived from other parameters (design-based values for thermal transmittance of walls and temperatures are indeed not suitable in very dynamic operative conditions without strong post-processing algorithms), but it is directly monitored through the specific tile sensor [3]. Therefore, the output voltage is linear with the specific power [W/m 2 ] in the range of interest.…”

“…A thorough understanding of the thermodynamics of buildings and their components is needed to provide energyefficient buildings [2]. In particular, the accurate assessment of the real heat exchange in situ is fundamental for the characterization of the real dynamic behavior of building components [3].…”

“…People's requirements for network communication are gradually increasing, and wired communication can no longer meet people's mobile needs. They hope to obtain mobile, convenient, and short-distance wireless networks to provide services for these mobile electronic products [ 14 ]. The current more common centralized short-range wireless communication technology is shown in Figure 2 .…”
