Development of a New Irrigation Sucker for Microneurosurgery-Technical Note-

Abstract: A new irrigation sucker (Delta Irrigation Sucker  ) was designed for microneurosurgery. The Delta Irrigation Sucker  has a unique trigonal pyramid-shape thumb piece, providing a very stable grip. Irrigation is achieved easily by pushing a small button just behind the pressure-regulating pore. Stable hold of the sucker and easy handling of the irrigation button enable irrigation without unsteadiness of the sucker. The Delta Irrigation Sucker  is available in six sizes, with diameters from 1.5 mm to 4.0 mm at… Show more

“…[1][2][3][5][6][7]11 These include bipolar systems with pressurized IV fluid, techniques for positioning the irrigation fluid and the aspiration tube within the operative field for continuous irrigation and aspiration, 7 and devices that unify the IS system. [2][3][4] We performed surgery according to the principle of sharp dissection. 8 To use only as much irrigation fluid as necessary and only when necessary, we used an IS system that unified IS tubes.…”

“…8 To use only as much irrigation fluid as necessary and only when necessary, we used an IS system that unified IS tubes. Various examples of such systems are on the market, [1][2][3][5][6][7][8]10 and these are selected according to surgeon preferences. However, it is necessary to pressurize the IV irrigation fluid continuously and consistently in all these systems.…”
