Recently, advanced Internet-of-Things (IoT) technology has been implemented in structural health monitoring to help increase safety of infrastructure and the reliability of maintenance decisions. In this context, preliminary studies are required to identify infrastructure in need of monitoring. This study establishes a basis for the identification of bridges that require monitoring and selects the bridges for measurement in order to build an efficient IoT-based monitoring system for small and medium bridges. The bridges selected based on various maintenance histories and risk factors are expected to be utilized in comprehensively assessing the characteristics of the overall bridge network.
