Development of the straw biochar returning concept in China

Abstract: Biochar produced from straw has been shown to improve soil physicochemical properties. This review introduces the fundamental concepts, the broad applications, and underlying theory of straw biochar returning. Current developments in biochar industry and the production practices prevalent among enterprises in China are critiques. This review analyzes current knowledge gaps, challenges, and opportunities in the industrial application of straw biochar returning. Biochar standards, the quantitative and qualitativ… Show more

“…From the biomass conversion products, biochar has attracted attention globally due to its huge surface area, functional groups, pore structure, and high inorganic substance (Huang et al 2019). Biochar can be applied as the adsorbent of pollutants in air and water (Qaisrani et al 2018;Huang et al 2019), as a catalyst for removing tar and produce biodiesel (Konwar et al 2014), as an improvement to the soil (Oladele et al 2019), in fuel cells (Chen et al 2019;Afroze et al 2019), super-capacitors (Afif et al 2019), energy production (Meng et al 2019), and greenhouse gas reduction (Chen 2019). Biochar can also be preserved in the soil for more than a hundred years (Palansooriya et al 2019).…”

“…bio-organic fertilizer [7] Sine all kinds of abiotic stresses have different effects on the main performance of rice production. The impacts of abiotic stresses with appropriate and effective strategies such as increase rice resistance, and the reduction of the negative effects of various tensions, from biochar as a beneficial agent should be mainly used.…”

“…Also improving rice performance under different stresses mainly related to the effects of biochar types, and plant growth regulators [6]. However, in figure1, it could be seen how biochar produced from Rice-residual to be returned, and it's used again as an affordable material in rice production, as an example [7].…”
