“…The risk stratification by serum marker was accurate in a majority of younger subjects, suggesting that the ABC classification system (or risk stratification by Hp-Ab) for gastric cancer screening should be applied especially in younger subjects. However, in elderly patients, a single endoscopic examination may be sufficient to eliminate the problem of misdiagnosing gastric cancer risk [18]. The reason for the contamination of patients with CAG in group A remains unknown.…”

“…We speculated that the natural clearance of H. pylori may be one reason [11]. This seems reasonable because the prevalence of H. pylori infection itself is significantly higher in elderly Japanese patients [18] and that elderly subjects with H. pylori infection are much more likely to experience natural clearance when using antibiotics for a reason other than H. pylori eradication therapy.…”

“…Although gastroscopic features of H. pylori associated gastritis have been reported in the literature, endoscopic diagnosis of H. pylori infection of the gastric mucosa by using conventional endoscopy and an Indigo carmine contrast method may be possible (Takahiro Kato et al, 2013 enhanced visualization of mucosal microscopic structuress and capillaries in the superficial mucosal layer. Images are obtained by using Narrow Band red, blue, and green filters, which are different from conventional red-green-blue filters (Gono et al, 2004).…”

“…Kato et al 8 reported that H. pylori seroconversion after eradication occurs after ≥ 24 months. Moreover, serum IgG to H. pylori Cag A antigen persists for a long time after H. pylori disappearance 10 , in some cases for several decades.…”

“…Endoscopic diagnoses were confirmed by at least two digestive endoscopic specialists either in real time or retrospectively. Regular arrangement of collecting venules RAC at the gastric angle is a typical sign of being naïve to H. pylori infection 7,8 . Conversely, the absence of RAC at the angle or chronic atrophic gastritis CAG is a finding typical of current or previous H. pylori infection.…”
