Diagnostic Value of Circular RNA hsa_circ_0002874 Expression in Peripheral Blood of Patients with Gastric Cancer

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine whether circular RNA hsa_circ_0002874 could serve as a novel biomarker for the diagnosis of gastric cancer (GC). The expression level of hsa_circ_0002874 mean (interquartile range [IQR]) in the plasma of patients with GC, patients with benign gastric lesions, and healthy individuals was 3.482 (IQR, 1.524–9.048), 1.261 (IQR, 0.817–2.000), and 1.00 (IQR, 0.726–1.382), respectively, whereas there was no significant difference between the latter 2 groups. The plasma expre… Show more

“…Circ_0002874 expression is remarkably increased in the plasma of GC patients, and related to the tumor stage and lymph node metastasis. This circRNA achieves a high diagnostic power in separating GC patiets from non-cancer controls (AUC = 0.836) ( Sun X. et al, 2021 ). Circulating ncRNAs with potential diagnostic or prognostic role in GC are listed in Table 2 .…”

“…Most of circRNA is localized in the cytoplasm and functions by spongiforming micro (mi)RNAs[13–15], while AUF1 [16], eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4A3 (EIF4A3) [17] and other RNA-binding proteins related to post-transcriptional regulation increase the circRNA formed by alternative splicing by binding pre-mRNA. In addition, circRNA can be detected in body uids such as blood [18,19], urine [20] and breast milk [21]. Therefore, circRNA has become a popular biomarker in cancer research.…”
