Dietary protein, energy and arginine affect LAT1 expression in forebrain white matter differently

Abstract: L-type amino acid transporter-1 (LAT1) transports large, branched-chain, aromatic and neutral amino acids. About 64 Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire pigs were used to study the effects of dietary crude protein (CP), energy and arginine on LAT1 expression in forebrain. The results showed that LAT1 expression in forebrain was sensitive to different levels of CP, energy and arginine. On the basis of Western blot analysis, a lower level of LAT1 presented in the brain tissues of pigs fed the low dietary CP diet (P < 0.… Show more

“…After cooling for 10 min at 4°C, 1 μl RNase (2 U/μl, RNase H, Gibco BRL) was added and the solution was then heated at 37°C for 20 min. The cDNA was stored at -20°C until used (Wu et al, 2010). Five biological replications were used for real-time qRT-PCR.…”

“…Several genes expressed in the muscle may be involved in the function of TZD, including PPARγ coactivator 1 (PGC-1), glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4) and fatty acid-binding protein 3 (FABP3) (Wu et al, 2010; Li et al, 2011b). PGC-1 is a transcriptional co-activator of PPARγ, its mRNA expression level can evaluate the effect of TZD as an agonist (Hondares et al, 2006).…”

“…Unsaturated fatty acids can synthesize various bioactive eicosanoid derivatives in inflammation and play a role in promoting vasodilation (Freitas et al., 2018; Vogel et al., 2000 ). Early studies have indicated that PGZ can improve the profile of PUFA in serum phospholipids and MUFA in rodent muscle ( Veleba et al, 2015 ; Wu et al., 2010 ). Consistent with these studies, our results indicated that PGZ increased C18:1n-9 and C18:3n-6 proportions in thigh muscle.…”
