Differential ُExpression of RuBisCO large Subunit and its Assembly in Intact Chloroplasts of Pisum sativum L. Treated with NaCl and Jasmonic Acid

Abstract: THIS STUDY aimed to detect the effect of stress conditions imposed by different treatments of NaCl and jasmonic acid (JA) on the expression pattern and assembly of RuBisCO large subunit (RbcL) and RuBisCO enzyme complex using SDS-PAGE and HDN-PAGE techniques, respectively. Both Total Soluble Proteins (TSPs) and Chloroplast Proteins (ChPs) were variably affected by each treatment. Notably, a unique protein band was detected in the seedlings treated with 150 mM NaCl for 5 days. Surprisingly, this band was not de… Show more

“…CO 2 fixation, the first determinant step of photosynthesis is stimulated by chloroplast enzyme RUBISCO. While, the chloroplast LSu forms the active site; the nuclear SSu has a stimulatory role for the enzyme activity (Genkov & Spreitzer, 2009;Khalifa et al, 2017). In the current study, RUBISCO SSu attained its lowest significant differences at ranks I and III whereas the corresponding highest differences were attained at ranks II and IV.…”

“…Temperature stress has a deleterious effect on the photosynthesis apparatus [ 83 ]. In this context, the protein expression of the chloroplast coupling factor (CF1) was negatively affected by the chilling stress [ 45 ]. By grouping control and HA alleviated chilling-stressed plants together (Fig.…”
