The hemangiomas in patients with carotid abnormalities are limited to the head and neck [Pascual-Castroviejo, 1978Gorlin et al, 19941. Although this is also the preferential site in patients with aortic abnormalities, they often in addition have hemangiomas in other areas of the body (e.g., limbs and vulvar region in our patient), including visceral hemangiomas waillant et a1.,1988;Geller et al, 1991;Reese et al, 1993;Gorlin et al, 1994 (Spanish infant); and our patient]. A clinical distinction can thus be made between the syndrome associated with intraand extracranial vascular abnormalities (particularly of the carotid system) and the syndrome associated with abnormalities of the aorta.…”
