Digital-Twins-Based Internet of Robotic Things for Remote Health Monitoring of COVID-19 Patients

Abstract: The deadly coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has highlighted the importance of remote health monitoring (RHM). The digital twins (DTs) paradigm enables RHM by creating a virtual replica that receives data from the physical asset, representing its real-world behavior. However, DTs use passive internet of things (IoT) sensors, which limit their potential to a specific location or entity. This problem can be addressed by using the internet of robotic things (IoRT), which combines robotics and IoT, allowing the robot… Show more

“…Those researchers have shown further that an architecture based on modern horizontally scalable cloud technologies could be used to realize a useful implementation. An innovative DT-based real-time solution was introduced that utilizes a robotic device for the remote monitoring of isolated COVID-19 patients' health status [167]. The system allows for efficient navigation and monitoring of patients' conditions from a distance.…”

“…Furthermore, the emergence of a 3D digital space that blends the real and virtual worlds, the metaverse, could also significantly affect future clinical practice and human health [11,12]. The future trend is to integrate VR technology with innovative technologies such as digital twins (DTs), the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), blockchain-based metaverse platforms, and other novel technologies to create intelligent medical care systems [13,14]. There is still a significant gap between current work and future trends, which presents new challenges and provides new directions for the development and application of VR technology in the medical field.…”
