Cultural heritage informatics (CHI) has aroused great interest from libraries, archives, and museums (LAMs) in recent years. As an international project, the organization of digital Dunhuang resources is of typical significance. This study aims to explore the current situation of digital resources in Dunhuang, and discuss the digital Dunhuang in supporting of digital humanities (DH) research. (Methodology) 21 websites related to digital Dunhuang were accessed, and the subject, size, data type and organization of 8 arts & humanities databases were analyzed. (Finding) The study finds that digital Dunhuang resources are multi‐source, multi‐format, multi‐topical, multi‐lingual and multi‐cultural. However, the information organization of digital Dunhuang is not yet at the “fine‐grained” level. The interoperability and value density of the data is low, and only primary search and word frequency statistics can be used in these databases. (Conclusion) The lack of integration and relevance of resources are principal dimensions that hinder the research of DH, especially for the demand of data mining and analysis. Semantic enrichment may be an available chance for enhancing the data of digital Dunhuang and supporting DH research.
