Abstract

The European Union Digital Content Directive is an important regulation that aims to uniformize the contract law of the member states in the digital field. Another issue aimed with this directive is consumer protection in digital content or digital service contracts concluded between the consumer and the entrepreneur. The German Legislator has amended the German Civil Code within the framework of the adaptation of the Digital Content Directive to domestic law. The regulation, which came into force as of January 1, 2022, includes innovations that will open the classical understandings of contract law to discussion. In addition, new concepts that were not previously included in the German Civil Code but stipulated by the Digital Content Directive have also been transferred to the Law. In this study, it is aimed to deal with these regulations in the German Civil Code in general terms.
