Dimensional Characteristics of Knitted Fabrics Made from 100% Cotton and Cotton/Elastane Yarns

Abstract: The dimensional characteristics such as loop length (l), wales per centimeter (wpc), courses per centimeter (cpc), stitch density (s), tightness factor (K), loop shape factor (R) and take-up rate (T) of single jersey, 1x1rib, 1x1 interlock, single pique, and two-thread fleece knitted fabrics made from 100% cotton and cotton/elastane yarns (5% elastane yarn content) are investigated in this research. Dimensional properties of knitted fabrics are an important property and determine the materials consumption duri… Show more

“…The relation between Lycra consumption and fabric dimensional and elastic behavior was investigated [5]. The dimensional and physical properties of cotton/spandex SJKF were investigated [6][7][8][9] and the effect of extension percentage of bare Lycra yarns during loop formation on the geometrical, physical, and mechanical properties of plain jersey fabrics was studied [10]. According to the previous research, the elastane fi bers had a signifi cant effect on the geometrical properties of elastic knitted fabric.…”

“…Knitted fabrics are less dimensionally stable structure. 2 Socks are pieces of clothing for enclosing the foot and are worn inside the shoes. Socks are designed to provide comfort, absorb, and evaporate sweat, protect foot, warm/cool the foot, or as a fashion.…”

“…A lot of researches investigated the effects of the elastane ratio on fabric properties. Although there are many experimental studies on the physical properties of cotton/spandex fabrics, most of these papers have focused on the properties of knitted fabrics containing spandex (3,(9)(10)(11)(12)(13) .…”
