The risk of injury at home due to flooding is often not a concern for many people. This article discusses the importance of risk literacy among urban communities in Surabaya, Indonesia regarding safety at home during floods. The analysis about home-safety usedsafety paradox theoryby James Reasons. The method used was a Focus Group Discussion which was carried out through facilitators among residential environmental activists to reveal four safety paradoxes: (1) invisible versus visible safety issues. (2) Potential damage due to defenses, barriers, and safeguards from flood adaptation. (3) Opinion about the role and function of community services and public facilities in minimizing the danger of flooding. (4) Optimism and failure experiences are more reliedon by society. The results of the Focus Group Discussionwerefall injuries and electric shockmore important than other risks. Meanwhile, the safety paradox found that the dangers of electric shock and infection were less visible. People preferred to adapt to severe floodingby constructing embankment around the house. Nevertheless, it becomes a cause of fall injury. While public facilities and community services tend to arrive late, people tend to learn from past experiences. The conclusion that is recommended for home safety risk literacy is that it reduces the danger of falls and electric shock compared to other dangers. The recommended activism is safety activism at home through routine communal programs in the villages. The second recommendation is toprioritize risk literacy through the distribution of short videos on social media

Landslide is the transfer of slope-forming material in the form of rocks, debris, soil moving down or out of the slope. Geolologically, landslides are a geological phenomenon with a movement of land such as falling rocks or large lumps of land (Nandi, 2007). The majority of Nganjuk Regency, East Java, is at high risk of landslides. Reporting from Tirto.id news on February 19, 2021, there was a landslide in Ngetos Subdistrict, Nganjuk which claimed many victims. Nineteen people died, 20 were injured and 10 houses were severely damaged. Ngetos village is the largest village with the most populous population in Nganjuk. Unit of Natural Disease Support from Faculty of Medicine, Community Service Team of the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation Faculty of Medicine Universitas Airlangga in collaboration with the Center of Environmental Health Engineering and Disease Control (BBTKLPP) Surabaya in efforts to overcome landslide disasters that occurred in Nganjuk. Assistance provided includes medical assistance and environmental development as one of the disaster mitigation efforts. One of the mitigation measures carried out through this activity is reforestation by planting vetiver roots. Vetiver Roots are known as landslide prevention plants because their roots can reach depths soil of down to 5 meters. One of the causes of landslides is the lack of vegetation on the ground so it is prone to movement, especially if it rains heavily because there is no anchoring. Therefore, this activity is considered important to prevent repeated landslides.

This research aims to examine the relevance and role of the Merdeka Curriculum, an educational initiative that provides freedom and flexibility in curriculum development, in addressing the global warming crisis. This study utilises a qualitative method with a case study conducted in three schools implementing the Merdeka Curriculum in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Data were collected through interviews with teachers and school principals, direct observations in the schools, and document analysis of textbooks containing materials related to global warming. The data were then analysed using thematic analysis techniques. The findings reveal that the Merdeka Curriculum possesses several characteristics that support students in understanding and addressing the global warming crisis, namely: (1) a focus on essential and relevant environmental issues, (2) the development of students' character and problem-solving competencies, and (3) student engagement in active and participatory learning. The results of the research explain that the Merdeka Curriculum plays a role in providing knowledge, but also skills, attitudes and values needed to become environmentally responsible citizens. The independent curriculum also encourages active and creative participation from students and educators in finding and providing solutions to reduce the negative impacts of the global warming crisis.
