Discussion of “Seismic Behavior of GFRP-Reinforced Concrete Interior Beam–Column–Slab Subassemblies” by Shervin K. Ghomi and Ehab El-Salakawy

Abstract

The authors are congratulated for their work on examining the effect of floor slab on the seismic performance of glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP)-reinforced concrete (RC) beam-column joints. Previously, the discussers raised concerns about this knowledge gap and tried to shed light on it through a numerical study (Ibrahim et al. 2017). This discussion covers parts of the original paper that warrant further consideration, with the aim to advance the understanding and facilitate the development of seismic design codes.
