Disinvasive action of aldehyde and chlorine disinfectants on the test-culture of Toxocara canis eggs

Abstract: Disinfection of environmental objects with highly effective disinfectants is a reliable and effective means of preventing the occurrence of outbreaks of infectious and parasitic diseases. The purpose of our work was to determine the disinfection properties of modern disinfectants based on the test culture of Toxocara canis helminths and to establish the optimal modes of their use. It has been proven that an aldehyde disinfectant containing didecyldimethylammonium chloride (2.25%), benzalkonium chloride (8.0%),… Show more

“…The lack of reliable biological and molecular tests means that we cannot monitor the emergence and distribution of resistance alleles and clinical resistance of helminths (Wolstenholme et al, 2004;Kaplan, 2004). Disinfection of veterinary control facilities is becoming increasingly crucial despite the high level of provision of specific agents in the fight against various etiology diseases (Stegniy et al, 2019;Paliy et al, 2020c). However, the use of disinfectants in specific conditions requires their additional approbation and determination of useful modes of exposure (Paliy et al, 2016;2018a;Shkromada et al, 2019a).…”

“…The high level of ovicidal efficiency of disinfectants based on glutaraldehyde is evidenced by other studies. For example, the efficiency indicators relative to test cultures of Toxocara canis eggs at a concentration of 2.0-4.0% and exposure of 3-24 h ranged from 90.6% to 99.7% (Paliy et al, 2020). Also, high ovicidal efficiency is noted for Dezsan (91.1-100%), which includes glutaraldehyde, in 1-2% concentration after exposure for 10-60 min .…”

“…Exogenous forms of helminths are found both at animal husbandry facilities (Majeed et al, 2015;Paliy et al, 2018c) and at many objects of social-epidemic control (Stojanov et al, 2018;Paliy et al, 2019). Disinfection of contaminated objects through the use of highly effective disinfectants remains the basis for the prevention of both infectious and invasive diseases (Maertens et al, 2020;Paliy et al, 2016;2020d). The scientifically based use of disinfectants makes it possible to control the epizootic situation for many animal diseases (Howard et al, 2015;Paliy et al, 2018a;.…”
