En este trabajo he tratado de analizar los problemas de gobernanza de la InteligenciaArtificial (IA) en el deporte. Tras caracterizar la gobernanza en el deporte, la noción y lasdistintas aplicaciones de la IA en este ámbito, la atención se ha dirigido a mostrar algunosde los problemas de la gobernanza de la IA. Esta puede impactar en varios principios y derechosde los deportistas: a) la pérdida de autonomía; b) la transparencia; c) la discriminación;d) la seguridad. Pero a diferencia de otros ámbitos sociales donde la IA también puedeafectar a los derechos de los individuos, en el ecosistema deportivo el impacto puede sermayor debido a ciertas circunstancias propias de la esfera deportiva: a) la variedad de regulaciones(públicas, privadas); b) la posición de superioridad de los clubes y federacionessobre los deportistas; c) la propia psicología del deportista y su ánimo de autosuperación.

Mass Diffusion of Modern Digital Technologies as the Main Driver of Change in Sports-Spectating Audiences

The rapid uptake of digital technologies is constantly transforming the modern culture of sports spectating; however, relatively little is known about the impact of digitalization on the changing face of global sports-consuming audiences, particularly from a qualitative perspective. In this article, the relationship between modern mass digital technologies (i.e., mobile applications and big data) and audiences of sports spectators is described and explained by taking a customer-centric approach to grounded theory using a literature review and in-depth qualitative semi-structured interviews (N = 12) with sports marketing, management, and technology professionals. The qualitative approach permits the gathering of in-depth insights into a problem, generates new concepts through data synthesis and analysis, and captures changing attitudes within the sports industry. Moreover, the qualitative approach to research is not bound by the limitations of quantitative methods and focuses on the primary questions of “how” and “why” digital technology’s mass deployment and diffusion have transformed content consumption in the sports industry. The analysis first systematizes and codes the collected data. Second, all the materials are iteratively read and the key points are outlined. Using the iterative analysis, the theoretical and empirical insights and findings are synthesized in order to achieve the results. Finally, dimensions of the transformation of sports spectators’ consumption are identified and explained. The research implications highlight “how” and “why” modern digital technologies have changed the sports-consuming audience by making it more inclusive in terms of age, gender, demographics, social and health status. These findings are useful for sport managers to better understand their audiences and processes in an ever-changing global society.

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, has accelerated technological immersion into society, economy and public administrations. The sports organisations are no strangers to this digitisation and must carry out their own digital transformation. However, investment in digital technology must be preceded by a diagnosis of the technological needs of each sports entity. Said mapping will help organisations know the most appropriate technological tools for their core businesses so they can properly design their digital transformation strategies. The objectives of this study were to design and create a tool to understand the digital structure of Spanish sports. The result has been the configuration of an instrument that includes the description of different technologies and different digital competencies specific to the sports industry, and which allows individuals to know the use, importance, perceived difficulty of use and economic accessibility of available technologies, as well as the degree of developed competency in the different sports organisations. It is concluded that the creation and application of a consultation instrument on digitalisation is the first and necessary step to carry out relevant, in-depth, valid and replicable research, which allows information to be gathered on the digitalisation needs of sports organisations to design their digital transformation roadmap and that the aids for digital transformation is distributed efficiently.
