“…In Brazil, many are the hosts of the blackfly [4]. In Rio de Janeiro, for example, recently-three new host plants for A. woglumi were identified: Artocarpus heterophyllus (Moraceae), Pouteria caimito (Sapotaceae), and Struthanthus flexicaulis (Loranthaceae) [32]. In spite of the use of various substances as alternative to the synthetic insecticides, insect pests are destructive especially in small farms that produce fruit [46,47], but for a precise recommendation the use of these substances, future studies should validate their efficiency in field and their compatibility with others tactics as biological control.…”

“…In Pará, there has been an increase in parasitism by microwasps which was not identified, with parasitism reported up to 90% [31]. In Rio de Janeiro, for the first time, the association of Encarsia pergandiella Howard (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae) acting as a parasitoid of A. woglumi nymphs infesting Citrus latifolia leaves was recorded [32].…”

“…Citrus blackfly (Aleurocanthus woglumi Ashby, 1915), an exotic pest widely disseminated in Brazil, is capable of infecting more than 300 species including fruit trees and ornamental plants. Citrus species, considered its primary hosts, are highly susceptible to infestation by this pest (EPPO, 2008;RAGA et al, 2016;ALVIM et al, 2016). Citrus blackfly eggs are creamy white until the second day after laying, resemble curved rods, with spiral-shaped, concentrating on the abaxial surface of leaves, adhered by a short peduncle.…”
