IntroductionMagnesium (Mg), with a density of two-thirds of aluminum (Al), is one of the light metals. Al has high specific strength, good formability, high corrosion resistance, and superior recycling potential [1][2][3][4] . Mg has good machinability, castability, and high damping capacity [3] . Due to these properties, Mg and Al have enormous potential for use in the automotive, aerospace, and marine industries [5,6] . The bonding of Mg and Al would combine their excellent properties, including a low density and high specific strength [7] . Several joining methods have been reported to fabricate Al-Mg bimetallic structures using accumulative roll bonding (ARB) [8] , conventional fusion processes [6] such as tungsten arc welding [9] , laser beam welding (LBW)
