Diversity of winter common wheat varieties for resistance to leaf rust created in the V. M. Remeslo myronivka institute of wheat

Abstract: The results of the investigations of resistance winter common wheat varieties to leaf rust are given. The high resistance to the pathogen manifest varieties that contain resistance genes: Lr9, Lr19, Lr37, Lr42 + Lr24, Lr43 (Lr21 + Lr39) + Lr24, Lr9 + Lr26, Lr10 + Lr24 are ascertained. The genes Lr13, Lr34, Lr37 in combination with other resistance genes provides long-term protection to leaf rust wheat. Winter wheat varieties, created at the V. M. Remeslo Myronivka Institute of Wheat, contain resistance genes L… Show more

“…The combination of ecological stability of the crop, variety, hybrid, and cultivation technology, considering the yield and quality of crop production, economic and energy efficiency is not only important, but also a complex task of selection and meeting the genetic potential through adaptive cultivation technologies [65; 52]. The growth of crop productivity actually depends on the genotype -its ability to interact with environmental conditions, cultivation technology, the implementation of potential at a high level under specific growing conditions and high resistance to stress factors [44].…”

“…A distinctive feature of disease-resistant breeding is that genotypes identified as donors can quickly lose this property. This occurs due to changes in the virulence of pathogens and their overcoming of plant resistance genetic systems, i.e., there is a loss of effectiveness of known resistance genes (Kovalyshyna et al, 2020a;Kovalyshyna et al, 2020b). Therefore, there is a constant need to identify new sources and donors of resistance against pathogens, the search for which is an urgent area of research and requires constant screening of the gene pool.…”
