“…When LCA is combined with an economic analysis, results are more policy relevant, as supported by previous studies [40,61,62]. Similar to other studies conducted in forests, e.g., woody product supply [63,64], the cost category that mainly affected costs in the present study was personnel, suggesting possible different results for monitoring comparisons conducted in countries with different labor costs.…”

“…Although the Libyan government has established a technical centre for the protection of the environment under the Law No (263) of 2000, currently known as the EGA (ENPI‐SEIS Country Report, 2015), the analysed data revealed that this institutional authority faces a chronic problem of being unable to tackle issues of sustainability, comprising SER practise, due to the non‐application of laws. Although the government brought in Law No (15) of 2003, to reduce the negative influences of the firms' activities on the environment, protect it, achieving sustainability development (Atia et al, 2020); and integrated planning of the community and encourage them for disclosure, this institutional authority seems to be weak in terms of playing its role. Indeed, according to the ENPI‐SEIS Country Report (2015, p. 11), the reasons behind the weakness in enforcing the environmental law by the EGA is attributable to problems such as “a lack of equipment, trained personnel and general awareness that are inhibiting the consistent implementation and enforcement of environmental laws in Libya”.…”

“…Sustainability does not only refer to economic or social development, nor is it solely ecology-based; instead, it refers to the entirety of the anthropocentric ecosocioeconomic complex. Compared to previous research on sustainable development of regional eco-economies [10,13,14], the present study had the following advantages: (i) The emergy method was used to evaluate the input and outputs of the regional economy, as well as those of various ecological and economic resources to provide a standardized unit of measure. The contribution of ecological products and services to sustainable development, and the detrimental impacts of waste, were evaluated.…”

“…At present, there are several methods to evaluate its progress, including the economic/environmental single ratio method [6,7], index system method [8,9], and data envelopment analysis [10]. In recent years, material flow analysis [11,12], life cycle assess ment [13], the ecological footprint method [14,15], among others, have been introduced for the evaluation of ecological efficiency, thereby enriching the theories and methods of ecological efficiency evaluation. The index of regional eco-economic sustainable evaluation has gradually changed from single-to multifactorial, overcome the subjective issue of weight-setting, and changed to an objective model simulation.…”
