In this study, it was aimed to determine the perceptions of university students who are studying in gastronomy and culinary arts departments through their metaphors. In the research, one of the qualitative research designs, case study research design was used. The study group formed 80 students from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students who were educated in Gastronomy and Culinary Arts department of Kocaeli University. The data were collected through an open-ended questionnaire. Students who participated in the survey: "Gastronomy and Culinary Arts graduates are similar to ... because ..." the question was asked. The data were evaluated by content analysis technique. The metaphors that were created, Similar to Another Profession (f: 27, 40.3%), Similar to Nature Existence (f: 22, 32.8%), Similar to Artificial Being and Similar to Person Characteristic Reflected to Life (f:7, %10,4) collected as four categories. Gastronomy and Culinary Arts students in the most common analogy artist, the most common of the simulated nature of the tree has been. One metaphor is produced by each student in other categories. Colon, building, book, artifacts, genius, warriors, lovers, mothers, babies, bourgeois slave metaphors have revealed how students perceive their professions in the categories of people that are reflected in life. As a result, it has been determined that students have a positive perception of their profession. Findings obtained with this study are thought to be an important source of data for different studies. It has been considered important that similar studies are carried out with the students and instructors at different levels of education as well as with the workers working in the sector.
