Propelled by steel, charcoal and steam the railway once carried the story of progress and the rise of the developed modern society. While the orient express nurtured a vivid, mythical aura during more than a hundred years, it seems like future stories about the railway mainly gravitate around hyperloops and increased speed. How come the narratives around railways have become so futile? How come imaginaries about progress have got stuck? With the help of critical imagination and the method of design fiction, this article will set out on an imaginary journey to re-storying the future railway and discuss how this could help us rethink progress. Alternative paths will be explored that allow room for stories depicting train rides in slower paces and complex rhythms and materials, a rich melting pot for diverse and vivid sub-cultures, bottom up grassroot services, experimental sharing cultures, touring theater companies, maker movements, and new citizen-driven cooperatives.

The Earth is facing extraordinary ecological crises resulting from human impact on the planet. Meanwhile, a growing body of research studies the relationship of organizations with the natural environment but often overlooks anthropocentrism: the premise of human superiority over nature. Unfortunately, this human exceptionalist premise is the crux of the ecological crisis that cannot be overlooked any longer. To address this discrepancy in the literature, we claim that an ontological shift is necessary. Drawing from feminist new materialisms and Deleuzian relational ontologies, we develop becoming naturecultural, a material-discursive assembling process of more-than-human and more-than-capitalist entanglements. To illustrate the analytical value of becoming naturecultural, we engaged in empirical work at an organic cotton t-shirt supply chain and conducted a multi-sited fieldwork with affective ethnographic methodologies. Working with the data collected, we narrated a human de-centered case study fostering critical but affirmative inquiries about sustainability from a non-anthropocentric relational ontology. At the end we discuss two implications for organizational sustainability research: thinking with and writing with becoming naturecultural. They facilitate moving beyond critiques of anthropocentrism and articulating affirmative possibilities for organization studies in and for the Anthropocene.

Learning organizations promote education by capitalizing on their 'strategic alignment'. However, an organizational strategy is a critical problem since it influences organizational efficiency and performance. This study aims to evaluate the strategic alignment dimensions' impact on the organization's learning practices. This research is quantitative, descriptive and explanatory. The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) method was used to assess the research variables. The case under study is the Wasit University faculty giving access to a sample of 450 participants. A questionnaire was used to collect the data. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS V.25 and Amos.V.23 statistical programs. Research hypotheses were accepted and confirmed the statistical significance (p < 5%) of the influence of the strategic alignment dimensions which include telecommunication, organizational value, governance, partnership and workforce skills on the learning organization practices at Wasit University. The constructs retained in the strategic alignment dimensions of organizational learning indicated the availability of telecommunication, organizational value, governance, partnership and faculty skills. Universities should increase their interest in and investment in the mechanisms of organizational learning to facilitate the process of obtaining knowledge. It is essential to involve instructors and consider their views and capabilities when making strategic decisions.
