Dual-band dual-polarization reconfigurable THz antenna based on graphene

Abstract: A dual-band polarization reconfigurable terahertz antenna is proposed by incorporating a monopole antenna with a graphene-based dual-band active polarization converter metasurface (APCM). The APCM unit cell adopts two perpendicular slots on the top and two biased graphene patches on the bottom, which can be switched from ON (polarization conversion) to OFF (polarization maintain) in dual-band by adjusting the chemical potentials of graphene from 0 to 0.5 eV. By loading the APCM array under the monopole antenna… Show more

“…It also has feeding network and biasing network complexity. In Lv et al (2020), graphene-based THz antenna is used for dual band and dual polarization reconfiguration. The optical switching used in monopole antenna (Kumari et al, 2019), achieves CP and LP for wider operating bands.…”

“…[24][25][26] Recently, a dual-polarization reconfigurable antenna integrated with a polarization converter based on graphene is presented, where the dualpolarization is realized by changing the conductivity of graphene through bias voltage. 27 The polarization mismatch caused by the environmental changes may degrade the power efficiency and the communication link capacity for a device-to-device communication system. In order to reduce the polarization mismatch and receive an arbitrarily polarized wave, circularly polarized (CP) antenna is usually adopted as it shows greater immunity to interferences, multipath distortions, and fading robustness.…”

“…It is also widely applied in communication based orthogonality between cross-polarizations. e feasible approaches for designing dual-polarized antennas mainly include multi-feed or multi-caliber strategies [5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]. An omnidirectional antenna with an arti cial magnetic conductor re ector was proposed in [8], achieving dual-polarized radiation by a multi-caliber structure.…”
