Dual‐band fan‐blade‐shaped circularly polarised dielectric resonator antenna

Abstract: This study presents a singly fed aperture coupled dual‐band circularly polarised dielectric resonator antenna (CPDRA). A fan‐blade‐shaped dielectric resonator is used to achieve the dual‐band circularly polarised response. The proposed CPDRA operates with the fundamental mode in lower band. The upper band response of the CPDRA can be tuned either with the second‐ or third‐order mode at different frequencies of C‐band. Also, the polarisation of antenna can be reversed with the change in operating higher order m… Show more

“…Finally, a performance comparison of the proposed DRA with earlier works [ 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 17 , 18 , 19 ] is presented in Table 1 . These structures are compared in terms of −10 dB IBWs, 3 dB ARBWs, and size.…”

“…It should be noted that the represents the wavelength with respect to the center frequency of the lower CP band. The earlier works [ 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 17 , 18 ] are some of the examples of dual-band CP DRAs. It is concluded from the comparison that the proposed DRA has a wider 3 dB ARBW at the second band from [ 12 ], wider −10 dB IBWs and 3 dB ARBWs from [ 13 , 15 , 17 , 18 ] along with the compact height from [ 13 , 18 ].…”

“…7 In open literature, different dual-band circularly polarized dielectric resonator based antennas have been reported. [8][9][10][11][12][13][14] Fang et al proposed a dual band circularly polarized cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) with the assistance of quadrature coupler. It provides Axial Ratio (AR) bandwidth of 12.4% and 7.4% in lower and upper frequency band respectively.…”

“…11,12 Currently, some of researchers have used different modifications in basic shape of dielectric resonator for obtaining dual-band CP waves such as notch loaded truncated cylindrical DRA (CDRA) and Fan blade shaped DRA. 13,14 This article explains the design and analysis of dual element cylindrical dielectric resonator based circularly polarized antenna. On the basis of above literature, it can be said that this antenna design preferably gives better performance not only in terms of antenna size but also easier fabrication and better bandwidth characteristics (axial ratio and impedance).…”
