Durability Evaluation of Agro-Industrial Waste-Based Particle Boards Using Accelerated Aging Cycling Tests

Abstract: The degradation of agro-industrial waste-based particle boards reinforced with sugar cane bagasse was evaluated by comparing their physical and mechanical properties. The particle boards were prepared with sugar cane bagasse particles (85% by weight of composite) and mixed with bi-component polyurethane resin based on castor oil (15% by weight). After mixing for 2 to 3 min, the resulting mixtures were pre-pressured. Standard molding conditions were: temperature, 100°C; pressure during heating, 5 MPa; and heati… Show more

“…Garzón et al 40 analyzed durability of panels produced from agro-industrial waste (sugar cane bagasse) and 15% castor oil PU resin based on ASTM D1037:2006 recommendations: cyclically immersion in water at 49 °C for 1 hour; steam at 93 °C (3 hours), freezing at -12 °C (20 hours); drying at 99 °C (3 hours), steam at 93 °C (3 hours) and drying at 99 °C (18 hours). Each specimen was improved samples AAA S performance.…”

“…Studies of aging of wood and its derivatives have been done both in the form of accelerated artificial aging and outdoor aging. There are studies that even relate these two types of aging and formulate mathematical models that correlate them (GARCIA; NOGUEIRA; ABREU, 2004;GARZÓN et al, 2011;NORITA;SUZUKI, 2009).…”
