Dynamic Analysis of Changes of Protein Levels and Selected Biochemical Indices in Rat Serum in the Course of Experimental Pleurisy

Abstract: A significant role is played in inflammation by the liver, which, stimulated by inflammatory mediators, synthetizes plasma proteins with various dynamics. The purpose of these studies is to generate a detailed dynamic analysis of changes to concentrations of plasma and serum protein fractions and selected acute-phase proteins as well as nonspecific biochemical indices during the course of an induced pleurisy. The studies were conducted on female inbred Buffalo rats, which were divided into two groups: a contro… Show more

“…The transferrin and albumin tested in this study are the elements of the acute phase protein group which react negatively [ 33 – 36 ]. The results from the group of rats subjected to induced inflammation and to tocopherol showed a lower decrease in albumin concentration after 24 and 72 h than one reported in our previous study [ 28 ]. The group of rats with induced inflammation and treated with both TCDD and tocopherol showed a smaller decrease of the albumin concentration in comparison with the analogous group that did not receive tocopherol.…”

“…In animals that received tocopherol, acute phase proteins’ concentration changed between the 72nd and 120th hour of inflammation. The results did not show similar time period-related interdependencies regarding biochemical parameters, as in the case of the previously described control group with induced inflammation, where, depending on the indicator, the peak of changes occurred between the 72nd and 96th hour of inflammation [ 28 ]. In a light of these observations, we hypothesize that rats in the groups that received tocopherol, the monitored indicators do not reach their potential maximal values, but rather remained at a constant level.…”

“…The reduced levels of triglycerides and total cholesterol in rats fed GMP may be due its hypolipidemic activity [ 26 ]. The liver has a significant role in inflammation processes and this dynamic is influenced by inflammatory mediators and plasma proteins [ 27 ]. Serum pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α) were determined.…”

“…Released dioxins get incorporated into the food chains, subsequently bringing about an array of negative biological consequences. 4,[33][34][35] The processes of resorption and bone formation are closely linked with each other. Disturbance to the mutual induction processes, or inhibition of any of the bone synthesis stages, leads to disorders in the structure of the osseous tissue.…”
