Dynamic Control Architecture Based on Software Defined Networking for the Internet of Things

Abstract: Software Defined Networking (SDN) provides a new perspective for the Internet of Things (IoT), since, with the separation of the control from the data planes, it is viable to optimise the traditional networks operation management. In particular, the SDN Controller has a global vision of the network of sensors/actuators domain, allowing real-time network nodes and data flows reconfiguration. As a consequence, devices, usually facing limited communications and computing resources, are relieved of the route selec… Show more

“…Despite their vast differences, the two have managed to coexist in a network, which has been termed the Internet of Things (IoT). In addition to people communicating with machines and each other, IoT has enabled machines to communicate with each other [1][2][3]. Machines are now connected and interact with one another independently, resulting in an increase in data in a mesh network [4][5][6].…”

“…In particular, WPT enables the energy supply with a direct device activation, or the device battery recharge, respectively. The second approach relies on an infrastructure dedicated to the energy transfer embodied in the communications topology, requesting specific routing strategies to optimise both aspects [14].…”
