Dynamic Performance Simulation and Stable Current Collection Analysis of a Pantograph Catenary System for Trolley Wire Overhead Electrically Actuated LHD

Abstract: The pantograph catenary system plays an important role in the power performance of electric mining vehicles. A pantograph catenary system combining both a pantograph and a catenary is one of the most promising solutions. As a case study, this paper discusses the dynamic performance and the stable current collection of a pantograph catenary system for a 14 ton underground overhead wire electrical actuated load, haul, dump machine (LHD). First, based on the optimized finite element simulation process, finite ele… Show more

“…As the overhead contact line system suffers multiple impacts from the pantograph [2], wind load [3][4][5][6], vehicle-track perturbations [7][8][9][10][11], electric shocks [12], temperature variance [13][14][15] and some other types of disturbances [16,17], almost all the rail operators have widely recognised the overhead contact line as the most vulnerable part in the traction power system [18]. Therefore, the dynamics of the overhead contact line and the pantograph have attracted ever-increasing attention from many scholars.…”

“…Li et al [8] examine optimization and subdivision of the finite element simulation of the pantograph catenary system of electric underground mining vehicles. The authors es-tablished the finite element models of the pantograph and the catenary systems, improved the motion equation of the catenary and performed a dynamic simulation experiment.…”

“…The character of operating of mines poses many challenges and barriers in this respect such as limitations resulting from the geology itself, natural hazards, mobility of devices, telecommunications limitations and many others [26,28]. Acquiring real-time data from systems, their common processing, interpretation and control of the entire process are necessary, even critical, conditions to ensure the safety of the crew and the optimal use of the property, energy and other means of production [14,16,19,20,31]. Operating monitoring systems are responsible for the safety of people working underground.…”
