Dynamic Service Assignment based on Proportional Ordering for the Adaptive Resource Management of Cloud Systems

Abstract: The key issue in providing fast and reliable access on cloud services is the effective management of resources in a cloud system. However, the high variation in cloud service access rates affects the system performance considerably when there are no default routines to handle this type of occurrence. Adaptive techniques are used in resource management to support robust systems and maintain well-balanced loads within the servers. This paper presents an adaptive resource management for cloud systems which suppor… Show more

“…With proper management of these resources, cloud servers can minimize or sometimes prevent overloading of the servers due to improper allocation of said resources. In [7], the approach determines servers which are overloaded with cloud services assigned and re-assigning these cloud services to servers with less load in proportions. Some of the methods and approaches were implemented as the virtual machine allocation in this paper.…”

“…Both of the topology-aware and hardware-aware VM placement schemes were proposed by considering locations of physical machines that related to the associated VMs to achieve load balance [12]. In [13], the adaptive resource management scheme was proposed to provide fast and reliable cloud services.…”

“…Hassan et al in [8] presents a VM resource allocation model that dynamically and optimally utilizes VM resources to satisfy QoS requirements of media-rich cloud services or applications. Mateo et al in [9] point out that the key issue in providing fast and reliable access on cloud services is the effective management of resources and he proposes an adaptive resource management for cloud systems which supports the integration of intelligent methods to promote QoS.…”
