E-Learning Tools Evaluation and Roadmap Development for an Electrical Utility

Abstract: This paper describes a methodology based on 40 criterions as well as a mixture of MCDM methods to evaluate different technologies applied in modern training systems. The criterions are grouped in a three-dimensional (3D) model in accordance with their use and application in training processes. The proposed 3D model includes the Management (M), the Technological (T) and the Instructional (I) dimensions. Applying this methodology we can evaluate different training and learning technologies. Furthermore a technol… Show more

“…The role of Instructor's attitude has been affirmed by several previous studies. An instructor's attitude is an important aspect in determining the quality of managing education system (Hiltz, 1993;Islas et al, 2009;Khan, 2005;Selim, 2007;Webster & Hackley, 1997). Webster and Hackley (1997) state those instructors' attitudes towards a technology, their teaching styles, and their command over the technology influences the learning results.…”

“…While some researchers have focussed on the technical components of e-learning systems (Islas et al, 2007), others have stressed only the related human factor considering instructor and student satisfaction (Liaw et al, 2007). Douglas and Van Der Vyver (2004) discussed the usefulness of e-learning course material only.…”

“…DeLone and McLean (2003) proposed a success model and argued that e-learning success is a multidimensional concept. Many researchers from fields such as computer science, information systems, psychology, education, and educational technology have sought to evaluate e-learning systems objectively (Webster and Hackley, 1997;Khan, 2005;Islas et al, 2007;Liaw et al, 2007;Selim, 2007;Wang et al, 2007;Sun et al, 2008). However, only a few studies have discussed the issue of effectiveness.…”
