The effects of education for children range from their development as a person and citizen to reaching psychological issues. Hospital pedagogy is an alternative process of continuing education that goes beyond the formal context of the school and takes into account the care provided to students in the process of hospitalization. Therefore, this research aimed at scientific production about hospital pedagogy with a focus on children. This is an integrative review, carried out on the Higher Education Personnel Improvement Portal, using the descriptors "Hospital Pedagogy" and "Child, Hospitalized" from 2008 to 2018. The following exclusion criteria were considered: repeated articles , reviews, editorials, reflection articles and those that were not available in full. A total of 118 articles were found, seven of which were selected to compose this review. It was observed that hospital pedagogy develops in expansion all over the world, but there is a need for further studies on this theme. This type of teaching makes it possible to continue teaching hospitalized children and adolescents, contributing to various aspects of their development. It enables social interaction and the reduction of fear and anxiety caused by hospitalization. There is a need for integration between health professionals and pedagogues in order to strengthen educational pedagogy.
